Advisory Board
We are lucky to count on a broad network of amazing friends and advisors. This trusted and experienced board of advisors has been kind enough to offer up their time and talent to help guide our work. As a small organization, we rely on the expertise and ideas of others, and this group of individuals play a particularly vital role, informing the direction and strategy of the Foundation.
Martin Burt is the founder and CEO of Fundación Paraguaya. He has been recognized as a leading social entrepreneur by the Schwab Foundation, Skoll Foundation, the Inter-American Development Bank, among others. Martin has led the Fundación Paraguaya since 1985 establishing Paraguayʼs first micro-finance program, and has continued implementing sustainable, entrepreneurial solutions to poverty around the world.
Martin has a degree in Public Administration and Inter American Studies at the University of the Pacific, in California and a Masterʼs degree in Science, Technology, and Public Policy at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He has led an active role in promoting civil society in Paraguay and has also had experience in local and national government. From 1991 to 1993, he served as Vice Minister of Commerce. In 1996, he was elected Mayor of the capital city of Paraguay, Asuncion, and served a five year term. Martin is married and has three children.
